Our Senior School inCastlewellan caters for some of our Post-Primary pupils, aged 11+.
During their Post-Primary years, pupils work towards a variety of accreditations and have access to a wide range of opportunities to help prepare them for life as an adult. Our Senior campus comprises of 4 classrooms, a sensory zone, and access to outdoor areas where we can deliver activities using a 'Forest School' approach.
Knockevin has a strong link with the South Eastern Regional College. The students attend every Wednesday to avail of the various courses on offer. Currently our students are covering courses in catering, art and ICT. Not only does this link assist in the delivery of our accredited modules, it provides a wealth of new experiences for our students and it enables them to integrate and socialise with students their own age.
Our senior school programme is supported by links with community groups and local schools that allow us to extend the variety of activities we offer and provide opportunities for social skills development. These links include –
- A music and drama link with the Assumption Grammar School
- Access to SERC
- Participation in the Ballynahinch Shared Education Choir
- Engagement with Belfast Activity Centre
The senior students have a range of job opportunities in and out of school that help them to develop work skills, gain confidence and experience working life.
